A magnificent final trip yesterday from the Tetilla Peak boat ramp, which closes in mid-October for the season. It was warm and sunny, and although navigation was more difficult than ever due to lower water levels, it was a great adventure.
We made it all the way upstream to Capulin Canyon in Bandelier National Park for the second week in a row, and had a very interesting 1/2 mile hike into the canyon along the sand deposited by spring floods. It was amazing to see huge trees and boulders that had been carried down from the mountains and deposited in various places by the force of the water.
Sightings included many migratory ducks, Canada geese, hawks and falcons, a beaver, and a huge bear footprint.
The connection with nature, the vastness, stillness, and solitude, reaffirmed our trust in spirit, knowing all will be well despite the horrors of this presidential campaign.
I hope that in some small way my photographs of our kayaking trips and hikes reflect the magic of our planet and awaken a sense of awe and wonder, as it always does for us.
