Sanchez Canyon

Less water in the river made for much stronger current in some areas, where the channel is narrower and cut more deeply. Lots of new mudbanks have appeared, making navigation tricky but providing a feeding ground for Great Blue and Black-Crowned Night Herons, Avocets, Spotted Sandpipers, Canada Geese, and even a Great Egret.

Wonderful cloud formations accompanied us on the journey north, and as always the stillness, solitude, soaring cliffs, and open water were uplifting and inspiring.
