A glorious Indian Summer day in the high country, with cloudless deep blue skies and a cool breeze. Our destination was Deer Creek Canyon, another marvelous place for hiking less than ten miles from our home.
The amazing rock formations and tall trees (Douglas and White fir, Ponderosa and Piñon pine, Rocky Mountain juniper) are always a source of wonder and delight, but to our great surprise there was lots of water in the creek from recent monsoon rains.
The burbling of the water, stillness, and solitude made for a deeply connecting, expansive, and meaningful experience.
