It was crisp and cool when we began, especially at almost 8000 feet of elevation, but there was nary a cloud in the deep blue sky. Autumn colors are becoming evident, and the dense forest of tall trees (Douglas fir, aspen, Ponderosa pine, Colorado Blue spruce) are very inspiring.

The caves have a magical quality, embedded into the rocky hillside with interesting mosses and other vegetation surrounding them. There was lots of water in the creek, and its melody was a wonderful accompaniment for our adventure.

Despite a quite nasty tumble near the beginning of our return trek, it was yet another deeply inspiring, connecting, and meaningful experience.
