We went the other way round on our favorite trail in the Eldorado Nature Preserve. That meant the most strenuous part was last (uphill, in this case, as opposed to usually downhill at the start).
The temps were in the high 40’s when we set out, with a chilly wind. Diana wore a thermal top and long pants, and as per my usual desire to extend the season, donned shorts and tee shirt. But the sun warmed things up considerably after a short time.
Going the other way offered new perspectives, especially on the last 2-1/2 miles. The mid-autumn light, with its long rays, illuminated the rocks and brought out some still remaining fall colors.
The solitude, stillness, incredible vistas, huge boulders, and trees were deeply inspiring.
