We took a recently-completed trail to begin our adventure. It offers an alternative to the jeep road, with different view of the rock cliffs, and hooks up with the main trail after 0.7 miles.
We then followed the main trail for awhile, through wooded areas, and then set off cross-country. Once again, rock climbing was the order of the day to get up to the cliffs, but the profusion of opuntia blossoms is far beyond anything we have seen in our 29 years in the Santa Fe area.
The stillness and 150-mile vistas added to the deep connections with Nature, Earth, and Spirit, along with the amazing rocks, lichens, and ancient trees.
