We celebrated with another off-trail excursion. The lichens were especially colorful after a bit of rain, and as always the ancient trees, soaring cliffs, shrubs, cacti, and 150-mile vistas were deeply inspiring.
One of the wonders was catching sight of a fox, the first time we have seen one here. A few flowers announced springtime in the high country, and the cacti buds will be opening soon.
It is indeed unfortunate that we need a day to celebrate our Earth, instead of marveling at her beauty and magnificence every day, and stopping those who continue to destroy it.
