Another new 40×30 inch painting, completed late yesterday. The title refers to awakening in general — to a new year, to one’s own unfolding, waking up and seeing the truth of things, emerging from denial, etc., etc.

I used a palette of cadmium red light, cobalt blue, cobalt turquoise, cadmium gold deep, cobalt teal, cadmium bordeaux, cadmium red medium, and cadmium red dark. The so-called heavy metal pigments have a vibrance and energy that is unmatched by synthetic ones.

Here is Awakening II, completed at the beginning of the new year. It is also 40×30 inches, and uses the same colors.

And this is Eruption, completed 6 January.
