We are very fortunate to have fairly regular visits of bobcats to our backyard. Most often it is mama and her kittens, who arrive late in the afternoon, spend the night under our deck, and leave mid-morning of the next day. Clearly she feels this is a safe place, and there is an abundance of rabbits for food.
The kittens will often climb into the juniper and piñon trees, as well as chasing and wrestling with one another. We also have adolescents passing through on their rounds, who stay only a short while before climbing the fence and moving on.
Our Bengal cats get very excited when the bobcats are around, and since they are indoors are safe from harm. We have occasionally watched close encounters with kittens on the deck peering through our large windows, and hisses exchanged though the plate glass.
I am very careful to treat the bobcats with great respect, and try not to disturb them. So photographs are hard to come by, as results from shooting through windows is quite unsatisfactory, and opening doors usually frightens them.
