Another Icy Day

Temps barely above freezing, but I set out a bit later in the morning for a new off-trail adventure. There was more risk than usual, being alone, and a few times I completely lost my bearings. A very strenuous scramble over huge boulders and steep rocky inclines, though, got me very near the usual lunch stop just below the rock cliffs.

Fortunately it is lots warmer below the cliffs, which absorb the solar heat, and it was wonderful to relax and appreciate the effort. Surrounded by ancient trees, shrubs, and amazing rock formations, as well as the usual array of cacti, was refreshing and connecting.

But I will be very glad when my partner returns!
