As my FB friend Ann Maes would say, a bluebird day for our off-trail adventure in the backcountry. The sun and autumn light illuminating the amazing rock formations, ancient trees, shrubs, and cacti, and some leaves turning colors, made for a remarkable outing. And as always the stillness, solitude, and 150-mile vistas added immeasurably to the experience.
It took courage to return to the cliffs, with the inevitable scrambling and some rock climbing to reach the top of the mesa. Thankfully no tumbles this time!
