There was a fair bit of snow in places, and some mud on the trail. Thermal gear was in order due to strong, icy winds.
Cleaning our lugged boots is always a big chore, so we tend to stay home when the trails are muddy (leads to erosion), but with 45 degree temps and sun, had to get out there. Only a bit of off-trail exploring because the footing is very tricky (alternate freezing and thawing of the soil).
