Freezing Temps and Icy Winds

Below freezing when we set out on our off-trail adventure. Thermal layers and longs were the order of the day, and we headed directly for the cliffs to take advantage of more sunshine and less wind.

There was some snow, ice, and mud, and lots of loose footing, but we traversed about two miles below the soaring rock formations, amongst the ancient junipers, shrubs, and cacti. Such magnificence, and so close to home!
